I'M HUMAN, JUST LIKE YOU. CELEBRITY DILEMMA # 1

Above: RAJOO.

Salam.

I am going to start a series of entries with the title above just for fun... if not for us to ponder.

So here's to dilemma #1.

I CAN'T SEE YOU, I WAS CONCENTRATING ON THE ROAD!

The dilemma:

Sometimes, as I am driving on the road, I notice some fellow drivers and their passengers will wave at me as they recognise that it was ADIBAH NOOR driving on the next lane.
I will usually wave back and hope that they'll be satisfied.
They did look quite exhilarated after that and I suppose, I've made their day somehow.

Sometimes, they'll start honking at me in the hope that I will look at them and wave back.
Sometimes, they honked too loudly that I get the shock of my life and will find myself trying to steer the wheel on track and not have an accident.
Upon realising that they were only excited to see me driving in the next lane, I will, like above, wave back and hope they're satisfied.

Sometimes, their car is in front of mine and they will start waving at me while looking at the rearview mirror.
Sometimes, their car windows are tinted and I have no idea what was going on.
And this time, I will usually pretend that I've not seen them as I wasn't sure if they were waving at me or if they were having an excited conversation with the other passengers in their car.

Sometimes, because I didn't see them and because I didn't wave back, some of them are quick to assume that I was snobbish.

Recommendation:

When you see me on the road, please bear in mind that I am a road user just like you.... and we are all prone to have an accident if we are not careful.

So, the next time you see me, please don't honk and give me the shock of my life!

And if I don't see you or wave back, please forgive me..... I was only concentrating on my driving and I am not a versatile driver like you.

And if you feel like following me from behind, and when I try to run away from you, please don't think badly of me.
I don't know who you are and forgive me if I was only trying to protect myself from strangers who may turn out to be road robbers!

In a nutshell:
Wave at me, but when I don't see you and wave back at you, don't take heart.

Cheers!

  2. dear otai.. thanks for your feedback. heheh whereabouts are you dear?.. to make such an entry so early in the morning (malaysian time 3.09am it says on your entry)?

in my case, i am just waiting for sahur, and am in the midst of preparing nasi goreng for my household.

naik teksi lain pulak ceritanya otai eheheh... pun banyak risk jugak.

i hardly regard myself as a celebrity, maybe dats why i react like any normal human being would.
and thus, when i do so, people may find me cold and reserved.
somehow when you work in this line, especially when you are projected as a comedic entertainer, people somehow warm up to me and expect me to be just as cordial as what they see on screen.
dont get me wrong, i am a hapy-go-lucky person, but it is kind of tiring when people expect you to entertain them all the time.

ada masanya laaa... but not all the time lar

nevertheless, i do enjoy waving back actually. and i do enjoy entertaining their requests for photo opportunity, autograph requests etc.

besides, who am i without my fans kan kan

but then again, safety cant be compromised ya.

sediakan pemandu.... alamak haiiii.... i'm no diva lar hehehe...
besides, kita dah kerja kuat, having sacrificed blood, sweat and tears to by ourselves a beautiful car.. takkan nak bagi org lain pandu kan kan kan...

take care otai! and keep it coming :D

  6. Fuyoh! Rajoo macam loyar lah dengan "pakaian" black & white nya...

Anyway, pernah satu ketika zaman I muda-muda dulu (sekarang ni taklah tua, cuma kurang muda je...), I naik keretapi, adalah dua orang kakak ni asyik merenung je kat I. Suspense juga. Last last one of them approached me and asked, "Adik ni pelakon drama kan?" Alahai... tak payah jadi celebrity pun kena jugak?

But since you are a celebrity, wave lah kat peminat-peminat you asalkan tak mengancam keselamatan. Kalau tak boleh nak multi-tasking while driving, pasanglah extra gadget kat kereta you - letak tangan palsu at the windows.... tekan switch aje, tangan tu melambai. ;)

  7. RELATED TO "I CAN'T SEE YOU, I WAS CONCENTRATING ON THE ROAD!".....

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic. 'Please,
mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said. 'He rolled
off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.' Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please
help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me.' Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.
'Thank you and May God bless you,' the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! Push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

  17. MUSIC OF THE HEART WILL NOT BE SILENT

Most of Beethoven's masterpieces were composed while he was deaf. He had inside him music that would not be stilled by life's circumstances. His music triumphed over suffering.

The last movement of the Ninth Symphony is choral music Beethoven set to Friedrich von Schiller's poem "Ode to Joy." Beethoven believed this poem celebrated the brotherhood of man.

On May 7, 1824, when the Ninth Symphony premiered, Beethoven was on-stage conducting. Also on-stage was a supplementary conductor necessary because of Beethoven's deafness. When the "Ode to Joy" movement was over, the audience erupted in applause. Beethoven did not turn around as he could not hear them.

Turn Around and See What You Have Created

One of the chorus members broke protocol and moved towards Beethoven. He took hold of the composer's arm. Beethoven gave him a fierce look but the chorus member persisted gently turning him around. By then the applause had subsided.

As Beethoven looked out into the audience, they began to rise in standing ovation. First one person and then many and then all. It is said that a single, small tear of joy slipped down the composer's cheek. It is also said that another tiny companion tear rolled down the cheek of the chorus member standing next to him.

    Some Questions for You

What gift inside of you is so strong that it must triumph over any adversity (or shyness or inactivity or busy-ness) and come out for others to enjoy?

Are you still holding it in, sapping creative energy by squelching it? What will it take for this ability, this genius, to flow out of you on a stream of inspiration?

We all have our genius with which we can make our world and that of others a more beautiful place. Part of being a member of the brotherhood of man is sharing our gifts with each other. What will bring your tear of joy?

And one more question, who in your life gently turns you around when you are facing in the wrong direction so you can see your standing ovation?

    And Today...

Read these words from "Ode to Joy":

"Let us raise our voices in more pleasing and more joyful sounds!"

Sing today. Sing, sing, sing the happiest songs you know. As the words flow out of your mouth with gusto, feel every cell in your body spinning and dancing and cavorting with joy. Each song will be a workout of gladness for your whole being. Yeah, it may feel silly at first but do it anyway. Soon the happiness will permeate you and all feelings of silliness will fly out the window, never to return.

Get others to sing with you. Let's make this day an international day of song.

If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot sing right that moment, hum in your head. Head humming is highly beneficial for you, too.

Make today a symphony of song and jubilation. And before you go to sleep, give yourself a rousing round of applause. What a day this can be.

    on your entry about SIR:
thanks for your thoughts on SIR. there's so much we can do to improve the program tapi dalam masa setengah jam, everything is limited. on top of that, the program alone is only about 15-20minutes... yang menjadikannya 30mins tu bila dah masuk iklan2.

kalau ada rezeki, memang saya hendak buat pelbagai program untuk pendidikan anak2, especially those that can enhance our children's interest in the english language, mathematics and science.

    insyaallah, suatu hari nanti.

on your entry on stephanie west allen's writeup:
thanks so much for enlightening me with that article. as much as i try to please all my fans, alas, i am only human... and when i cannot please everyone, people are quick to assume the negatives.

i shall now cherish every wave i receive on the road as my version of the "standing ovation" beethoven received :D
