DO UNTO OTHERS, AS YOU WANT THEM TO DO UNTO YOU: Respect is earned, not forced

salam.

above is another one of my cats, arwah SONJA (pronounced as SONIA).
dia dah arwah.
about a year ago, she plunged to her death from my 7th floor.
she's in a happy place.
but i miss her so much.

anyway, i just want to relieve myself of this heartache i got when i watched the news recently.

the incidents at kampung buah pala and shah alam were quite disturbing.

what has happened to us?

i don't really know what is going on in the kampung buah pala issues, so i won't say anything about it except that the behaviour of the people there is quite frightening.
is there no other way to talk about it?
and find a solution for it?

what was more disturbing for me was the demonstration in shah alam.

they may feel that they are on the right side by doing what they did.

but to humiliate and insult other people's religion and faith,.... oh gosh.... i believe that is sooooo unislamic.

we (meaning muslim malays) should try putting ourselves in other people's shoes, people who are non-muslims or non-malays.

the indians, chinese etc have tolerated the building of our mosques in their neighbourhood.

once i had a chinese colleague when i was working for a conglomerate in kuala lumpur and he once invited me to his home for tea.

i complimented on his beautiful home, but he said, soon, they will be building a surau in front of his house.
he sighed with anxiety of the task of having to listen to the call for prayer 5 times a day.

at first, i thought, well, tough... this is a country where it's official religion is islam.
but then, it made me think again, when i watched our muslim brothers in shah alam shouting in protest with so much anger.

please don't get me wrong.

as a muslim, my faith is still islam, heart and soul.

all i'm saying is that there should be mutual respect.

that's all.

it's ok to protest, but not with disrespect and in bad taste.

it will only make us more divided and we will be on our way backwards.

we've all built this country together, so let's not forget the sacrifices made by the non bumiputras or the non muslims.

they love this country as much as everyone else does.

the actions of some of our muslim malays brothers and sisters are quite appalling and embarassing to the rest.

we as malays and muslims are supposed to be a cultured race with supreme patience and tolerance to others.

what has happened to us?

  1. As Muslims, we should go back to the Quran. The Quran teaches us to respect one another.

As Malaysians, we should go back to Rukun Negara. Whatever happened to kesopanan & kesusilaan?

  2. salam adibah...

  3. Adibah yg comel.

tu le padahnya kalau kita mengaku islam tapi tindaktanduk jauh menyimpang, memandang serong kepada yg lain hanya kerana mereka tak pakai serban atau tudung. Akibatnya macam u cakap ia melaukan islam yg lain. rasa nak debik jek..

    Sahur jam berapa ayang?

  8. pibani... i agree with you dear.... the quran has specific surahs about tolerating other religions.

even if we dont read the quran, where is our conscience.

even if we do not know how to read or write, where is our heart?

one of my chinese friends lalu bertanya... compared to the muslims in arab or elsewhere.. why do the muslims in this country angkat themselves so far high up and think that they belong there?

and i corrected him... not the muslims in this country dear... the malay muslims.... it all boils down to their need to remind themselves that they are TUANs when deep down inside they know that they are so-called Tuans only in this land.... elsewhere.. they are worthless.

    *sigh*

    and thanks for your quotes.
    it's all for our muhasabah.
respect for ourselves is sometimes misinterpreted.
the people who disrespect and humiliated other religions must have thought that their actions speak for their respect for themselves, when actually.... it is the contrary.... they do not respect themselves and thus they disrespect others.

cermin... always love to look in the cermin... but sometimes, i prefer someone else looking into the cermin with me and tell me what they see.

    thanks otai!

Make up tebal. "Sis! No one will tell you. But I'm going to tell you this..BLA! BLA! BLA!... KATA2 YANG YANG MEMBUAT OPRAH TERGAMAM. BERDUKA DAN NAK MENANGIS (2 TETAMU OPRAH TURUT TERKEJUT DENGAN KATA2 ITU DAN BERPENDAPAT TIDAK PATUT SAMA SEKALI TEGURAN ITU. Apa tidaknya. Bill Cosby berkata Oprah kelihatan seperti Mayat (SAYA DAPAT BAYANGKAN BAGAIMANA WAJAH OPRAH KERANA SAYA PERNAH MELIHAT BAGAIMANA IBU SAHABAT KRISTIAN SAYA DISOLEK SEBELUM DI DIMASUKKAN KE DALAM KERANDA. Oprah sangat berterima kasih dan terhutang budi atas teguran itu.

Adibah kelihatan manis dan jelita dalam SIRI ENGLAND TRIP, BRUSSEL TRIP DAN PARIS TRIP...

Jika Gambar SWAN itu dipetik di Sungai Thames, untuk pengetahuan bersama setiap tahun bancian bilangan Angsa (populasi angsa) akan dibuat. Queen E akan turun padang membuat bancian bersama petugas. GREAT JOB!

  26. Assalaamu'alaikum Adibah, out of curiosity I read AA's blog and my my, didnt my jaw drop! (face in perpetual grimace reading it) I have never seen anything so gutterish, so infantile, so vile, so obnoxious, so repulsive ever written before! And compare that to what you write in your blog, goodness. It speaks for itself. You have handled the issue extremely well, congratulations. Selamat Hari Raya.
